ScotDance Ontario is the
Professional Body representing
all matters dealing with
Highland Dancing in the
Province of Ontario and
operates under the umbrella of
ScotDance Canada
Application Process

Responsibilities of Provincial Affiliates:

Each Provincial ScotDance Affiliate will have the opportunity to select one dancer annually for
consideration for the James L. McKenzie Award. The final nominee's Application Form must be
submitted to ScotDance Canada by the ScotDance Affiliate by May 1st.

  • An applicant must have had a least two years Highland Dance tuition from a ScotDance
    Canada member and be a Premier dancer.
  • A dancer is not eligible to receive this award in consecutive years.
  • An applicant MUST meet the criteria as set out by SDC for this award.

Responsibilities of Applicants:

NOTE: Application forms MUST be obtained through your teacher. Teachers will determine
suitability of candidate for this award prior to the application process.
Each applicant must complete the official Application Form and return it to the ScotDance Ontario
Provincial Affiliate by April 15th as follows:

Each applicant must provide a Letter of Recommendation from his/her Highland Dance teacher to
accompany the Application Form.

The Final Selection Process:

The Selection Committee will consist of Independent Members of ScotDance Canada. From the
provincial nominees Canada-wide, the Selection Committee will choose a maximum of three (3)
winners. A total of $1,000 will be shared by the winners. However, the division of monies or the
amount that each of the 3 winners will receive is at the discretion of the Selection Committee. All
other Final Nominees will receive $50.

Winners will be announced annually at the ScotDance Canada Championship Series in July.
